The band are currently busy writing and rehearsing for the recordings, and are really excited to be getting back into the studio to record some new material.

We can’t go in to too much detail at the moment with regards to the band’s plans, but 2012 is shaping up to be just as big, if not bigger for The Kinetic.

Guitarist Pete Horobin said: “The tunes we have written so far are a real step forward for us, and I’m really looking forward to letting you hear them very soon.”

The Kinetic recently reached  dizzy new heights after producing their first music video on top of the CIS Tower in Manchester.

 The five lads who pride themselves on bringing barefaced rock to their audiences have recently released their debut self-titled EP.

With music that is fresh and modern, The Kinetic boast an infectious sound and you can hear them for yourselves at

Stalybridge’s Koko Lounge tomorrow night (Friday) and at Centro Bar in Manchester city centre on Saturday evening.

Already receiving praise from Manchester music guru Clint Boon, of XFM and Inspiral Carpets fame – the band, who have three members residing in Tameside, are raising eyebrows in the city.

Their official video of ‘Dream That Never Ends’ performed on top of the second largest city building has a rocking U2/Beatles-type feel.

“I can see where that can come from, but we did not set out to make it appear like that,” said guitarist Pete Horobin.

“We wanted to do our video somewhere high up to produce a dream-like feel and we did jump through some hoops to get on top of the CIS.

“The highest building is the Beetham Tower but we could not get up there, but we were allowed one day on the CIS, so come rain or shine it was going to be done.”

Craig Oates from Hyde, Pete Horobin, from Mottram, Simon Hope, of Mossley and Bredbury’s Dave Horobin and Stu Lynch have been touring for the past month.

As well as their gigs in the next couple of days, the lads are preparing for a special gig at Manchester Academy 3 on Wednesday, April 6.

The band know it is tough in the current music world to make headway, dictated by the internet and iTunes – but they are ‘aiming high’.

“You have got to aim high in this world and it’s the kind of lads we are,” said Pete.

“We have made mistakes when we were in our old band, but we are just loving performing and we feel we are making decent music.

“We work hard and we are extremely proud of what we have produced in the EP.”

All very well with hindsight but at the time a bit nervy.  One slip and you can see right through the hole in the middle of the guitar.  Should I cut the red wire or the blue… and if it goes wrong: “Er can I borrow your guitar mate, yeah somethings wrong with mine…”.

Ah well, the price of proper preparation.  Now what about my amp…

Since recording the video its been pretty much none stop. We’ve been busy arranging the small tour we have coming up and arranging some radio and newspaper interviews.

At the moment I’m really excited to be going on tour. Ask me again next weekend when we have done a few it might be a different thing
